Courses of Winter term 2020/21

Im Wintersemester 2020/21 bietet die Professur folgende Lehrveranstaltungen an:

Corporate Social Responsibility (BA/D, dt.)

In der gegenwärtigen Weltwirtschaft erkennen viele vorausdenkende Führungspersönlichkeiten, dass geschäftliche Herausforderungen und gesellschaftliche Verantwortung miteinander verflochten sind; ehemals separate Modelle zur Maximierung von Unternehmensgewinnen auf der einen und der Wahrnehmung sozialer Verantwortung auf der anderen Seite weichen ganzheitlicheren, strategischeren und innovativeren Herangehensweisen. Diese Vorlesung soll dazu beitragen ein Verständnis für derartige globale Unternehmen und die sie umgebende soziale Dynamik zu entwickeln indem untersucht wird, wie private und staatliche Unternehmen auf die Herausforderungen einer globalisierten Wirtschaft und begrenzter Ressourcen reagieren.

Value Chain Management (BA/D, engl.)

This course will provide knowledge on understanding how environmental management systems and sustainability thinking can be embedded into company value chains, enhancing and advancing corporate sustainability and societal resilience. Lectures will be organized to cover the Primary Value Creation Stages of: Procurement, Production, Sales and Disposal as well as the secondary value creation stages of research and development, transport, human resources and organization, marketing and finance. Emphasis will be placed on the movement towards circular considerations of the value chain.

Nachhaltigkeitsmanagement in der Praxis (BA/D, dt.)

Die Veranstaltung wird dieses Wintersemester wieder zusammen mit Herrn Dr. Peter Saling (BASF SE) angeboten. Die Blockveranstaltung wird zwischen dem 18.01.2021 und 21.01.2021 stattfinden. Weitere Termine mit einer Anwesenheitspflicht gibt es nicht. Bitte tragen sie sich auf OPAL ein, wenn Sie definitiv an der Veranstaltung teilnehmen wollen! OPAL

Scenario Planning (BA/D, engl.)

Life is all about pursuing challenging, worthwhile goals. How do we prepare for a world 25 years into the future? One of the most innovative approaches to addressing that question is Scenario Planning, a method for first exploring the space of possible different futures and second, for developing success strategies suited to those possible futures. The aim is to succeed, no matter what the future will look like. This seminar uses a learning-by-doing team work approach. The specific target is to get to know Scenario Planning as an method while at the same time discovering strategic options for the European Commission that are likely to enhance work and societal life throughout the European community. The lecturer will be Dr. Martin Gillo, who was Saxony’s minister for economy and employment from 2002 to 2004 and afterwards member of the Saxon parliament until 2014. He studied Social Psychology and worked as consultant and manager for AMD in Germany and the USA before he took an active role in politics.

• Time and place: 2 x 3-day-weekend block event dates will be announced on OPAL. The seminar is open for up to 20 students. Admission is on a first come, first serve basis (OPAL registration!)

Stakeholdermanagement (BA/D, engl.)

Nach Abschluss sind die Studierenden befähigt, das Makro- und Mikroumfeld des Unternehmens zu analysieren. Hierzu werden alle relevanten politischen, ökonomischen, gesellschaftlichen, technologischen, ökologischen und rechtlichen Einflüsse, sowie die Stakeholder einer Organisation bzw. eines Unternehmens (sowohl multinationale als auch klein- und mittelständische) betrachtet.  

• Time and place: Thursday (first half of the term), 3. + 4. double period (11:10h - 14:30h), digital. Exam in presence! OPAL
• Attention: early enrollment from 02.10. to 15.11.2020! Exam will take place on 15.01.2021 already!

Fallstudien in Energie und Umwelt (BA/D, dt.)

Der Kurs wird gemeinsam mit der Professur für Energiewirtschaft konzipiert. Grundsätzliche Aufgabe des Kurses ist das eigenständige Lösen einer Fallstudie im Team. Das Lernziel ist die gleichzeitige Anwendung von Fachkompetenzen aus Energiewirtschaft und BU und die Weiterentwicklung von Methodenkompetenzen (Probleme erkennen, Lösungswege entwickeln, Präsentation halten). Grundvoraussetzung für die Durchführung des Kurses ist eine angemessene Teilnehmerzahl.

Virtuelle Akademie der Nachhaltigkeit (BA/D, dt.)

Nach derzeitigem Stand werden bis auf Weiteres keine regelmäßigen Prüfungstermine angeboten werden können. Ihnen stehen weiterhin alle Lernvideos der Virtuellen Akademie auf YouTube sowie auf der Homepage der virtuellen Akademie (www.va-bne.de) zur freien Nutzung zur Verfügung. Sollten Sie beabsichtigen eine Prüfung in einem Modul der virtuellen Akademie abzulegen, so wenden Sie sich an die Betreuer der virtuellen Akademie. Aktuell bietet die virtuelle Akademie ein Bezahlmodell für die Prüfungsumsetzung an. Dieses sieht eine finanzielle Beteiligung von 40 Euro pro Prüfung und Prüfling vor. Die Kosten können nicht übernommen werden und sind vom Prüfling zu tragen OPAL

Strategic Sustainability Management (MA/D, engl.)

This course will provide students with an understanding of strategic sustainability management, examining how companies develop and implement sustainability policies and place emphasis on how these strategies are communicated to organizational stakeholders. The course will cover the roles and responsibilities of sustainable strategic leaders within companies, the sustainability challenges companies may face and respond to, and the tools of strategic business management to respond to them. Students will be expected to work in teams as well as solve problems independently.

Multidisciplinary Perspectives of Sustainability [Nexus Seminar] (MA/D, engl.)

UNU-FLORES in collaboration with PRISMA – Centre for Sustainability Assessment and Policy on behalf of TU Dresden: The joint seminar series, which launched in 2015, features lectures by senior scholars that highlight all dimensions of research on the Nexus Approach, ranging from hands-on implementation strategies to theoretical debates. The Nexus Seminars serve not only as a platform for scientific exchange and cooperation between UNU-FLORES and TU Dresden but also a medium for the partner institutions to discuss their research with a broader audience.
