Sustainability as an Opportunity and Challenge for Saxon Industry
Table of contents
The aim of this analysis is to identify opportunities and challenges associated with sustainability for the industry in Saxony. The topic of sustainable management was already addressed in 1713 by Hans Carl von Carlowitz in his work “Sylvicultura Oeconomica” for forestry. This project is part of the StrategyWorkshop: Industry of the FUTURE within the framework of which the VDI/VDE Innovation + Technique for the Saxon State Ministry of Economics Affaires, Labour and Transport discusses the conditions for a successful enhancement of the Saxon industry, i.e. opportunities, solutions and approaches.
This includes sustainability and sustainable management as challenges respectively opportunities for the Saxon industry. The analysis is based on the coalition agreement (CDU Landesverband Sachsen und SPD Landesverband Sachsen 2014), the sustainability strategy of the Free State of Saxony (SMUL 2013) and the Saxon Sustainability Report (SMUL 2016). Using the scenario planning method, various future visions and afterwards, in a scenario transfer process, sustainability-oriented decision requirements are derived.
