Open interdisciplinary design competition for universities in cooperation with planning offices “Plus energy house with E-Mobility” – contribution “Ecological material concept, recycling, and reuse”
Table of contents
Within an open interdisciplinary design competition for universities in cooperation with planning offices “Plus energy house with E-Mobility”, advertised for bids by the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (Bundesamt für Bauwesen und Raumordnung – BBR), the TU Dresden participated with its own contribution and won 2nd place. The purpose of the competition was to conceive a building that demonstrates the current state of development in Germany regarding the combination of e-mobility with energy-efficient and sustainable construction. The building should be able to supply the needed energy for both the living of its residents and the running of several vehicles exclusively from renewable sources. The competition contribution of the TU Dresden was executed under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Clemens Felsmann (Professorship of Building Energy Systems and Heat Supply) (link). The Chair of Environmental Management and Accounting contributed with the part “Ecological material concept, recycling, and reuse”.
The objectives of the contribution were:
- The development of an ecological material concept in consideration of the waste hierarchy (EU-Waste Framework Directive),
- the design of a recycling concept in consideration of resource conservation and minimum input,
- the implementation of a three-dimensional recycling approach supporting the material cycles,
- the development of a concept to assess energy consumption, including for transport,
- the recommendation of a concept for regional procurement of building materials.
