DIMO - Shift plan adjustments in case of disruptions
In the DIMO project, the Chair of Industrial Management at TU Dresden, together with GWT-TUD GmbH, is developing intelligent optimization solutions for current challenges in rail transport as part of a direct commission from ÖBB Produktion GmbH and dwh GmbH.
The current focus is on the automated adjustment of shift plans in the event of disruptions. If there are operational deviations, planned shifts often cannot be carried out as planned. In such cases, it is necessary to reschedule at short notice, in which numerous operational and legal restrictions must be observed - including working time regulations, vehicle rotations and the return of train drivers to the original starting point of their shift. In addition, the number of cancelled journeys should be minimized. The solution is based on a column generation process that is being evaluated in the simulation environment of dwh GmbH. This is based on existing methodological preliminary work.
