Timetable construction for Universitätsschule Dresden
The Universitätsschule Dresden was founded for 2019/20 school year as an experimental school where innovative forms of teaching and learning are developed, tested and scientifically evaluated. The Universitätsschule Dresden is intended to provide an opportunity to think about the school of the future and is scientifically supported by the TU Dresden. Research at the Universitätsschule Dresden is based on three pillars: school an teaching research, competence and development research, and professionalisation and engagement research.
There are no traditional classes at the Universitätsschule Dresden. Instead, students acquire knowledge about working in projects. The project groups consist of about 5 students each, who can belong to different grade levels.
It will be our task to support the Universitätsschule in the construction of individual timetables for each student with special attention to project orientation by using methods of operations research. The main focus will be on feasibility and a variety of restrictions regarding group composition, teachers and rooms will be considered.
