Our research follows the latest trends
The optimization of business decisions is the focus of our research, with the main application area of industrial manufacturing. However, we apply quantitative methods and models of operations research for a variety of complex planning tasks. Optimization of operational processes
Production planning and control, supply chain management and related logistics issues are the focus of research at the Chair of Industrial Management. For these problems it is important to identify possible actions alternatives and to make the best possible decision according to the business's objectives. For this purpose, we commonly use mathematical approaches of Operations Research to first model the planning task and finally provide decision support. However, the application of these methods is not limited to the aforementioned business management topics. The overview of current and completed projects of the chair gives a good insight into the variety of research topics at the chair:

Together with other institutes of the TU Chemnitz, TU Freiberg as well as TU Dresden, which do research in the field of production and logistics, we regularly organize the "Saxon PhD Workshop on Production and Logistics". In addition, we meet annually at the "OR Workshop" colleagues from the FU Berlin, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) as well as the TU Dresden. Both workshops enable an intensive and profitable exchange on current research topics of our PhD students.
