International Master's Module "Collaboration in the Virtual Classroom" of the Chair of Information Management awarded the 2022 Teaching Prize
The teaching award of the Society of Friends and Sponsors of the TU Dresden (GFF) honors innovative teaching and learning concepts from the academic year 2021/2022 that are dedicated to the topics of entrepreneurship or ecological sustainability, creatively prepare them and implement them in a future-oriented way. The award of the GFF 2022 teaching prize to the English-language module "Collaboration in the Virtual Classroom" was based on a proposal by students. Mattis Altmann, M.Sc., who is the main coordinator of the module, and Prof. Dr. Eric Schoop have received the teaching award, which comes with prize money of 5,000.00 euros for supporting teaching activities, on December 14, 2022 during the TU Dresden Senate meeting.
"Albania's next Unicorn: Developing a platform business model for ecotourism in Albania" was the topic of a complex case study equally dedicated to entrepreneurship and sustainability. It was worked on exclusively online by about 80 students from 8 participating universities (6 from Albania, 1 from Slovenia and TU Dresden) under regular tele-tutorial guidance in the summer semester of 2022 (details here).
The learning processes followed the established didactic approach VCL (virtual collaborative learning) at the Chair of Information Management. The overriding learning goal is the development of collaboration competence, digital competence, interdisciplinary technical and methodological competence, as well as the promotion of internationality and interculturality (21st century skills). In addition to the application of innovative teaching/learning concepts, the module is also the subject of diverse scientific research at the professorship with the participation of student contributions (e.g. research seminar, documentary and final theses).
