The inaugural lectures were followed by the presentation of four faculty awards. Dr. Martin Gäumann and Dr. Jakob Hamann-Lohmer were honored with the Dr. Feldbausch Award for outstanding dissertations. Both have written cumulative dissertations and graduated with highest honors (summa cum laude). Dr. Martin Gäumann's work on "European Participation in Setting Global Accounting Standards: Three Empirical Essays on the Due Process of EFRAG" was supervised by Prof. Dr. Michael Dobler. Dr. Jakob Hamann-Lohmer wrote his dissertation on "Blockchain Technology in Operations and Supply Chain Management: A Multi-layer Approach on Adoption, Prospects, and Implications" at the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Logistics, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rainer Lasch.
The Dr. Händel Award supports projects that contribute to the initiation and strengthening of the faculty's international contacts. This year, Prof. Dr. Benedikt Brendel (Chair of Business Information Systems, esp. Intelligent Systems and Services) and Dr. Ianina Scheuch (Chair of Business Education and Management Training) had the pleasure of receiving funding for their projects. Benedikt Brendel is being awarded the prize for inviting Professor Alan A. Dennis for a research stay at the faculty while Ianina Scheuch will utilize the funding to spend a research stay at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
The Award of the Deutsche Bundesbank supports international research collaborations, but primarily targets early career researchers in economics, econometrics, and finance. This year, Dr. Valentin Lindlacher (Junior Professorship in Economics, esp. International Economic Policy) and Zhixiao Yao (Chair of Economics, esp. International Economics) had the pleasure of receiving this award. Valentin Lindlacher used the financial support for a research stay at Southampton University. Zhixiao Yao will participate in the "International trade - firms, policies and distribution outcomes and migration economics" Summer School at the Paris School of Economics in June 2023.
For the first time, the Professor Hilbert Publication Award was awarded, aiming to recognize and highlight outstanding publications by early career researchers. The recipient of this award was Hannes Hobbie (Chair of Business Adminstration, esp. Energy Economics), who, together with his co-authors, successfully published the article "A massively parallel interior-point solver for LPs with generalized arrowhead structure, and applications to energy system model" in the prestigious European Journal of Operational Research (JQ3: A). Hannes Hobbie will present this publication as well as other research topics in our colloquium on June 27, 2023.
