This page describes the structure and content of the Master's in Business Education and Management Training as offered to students enrolled before the winter semester of 2024/25.

Students who started the Master's in Business Education and Management Training before the winter semester of 2024/25 will convert ex officio to the new study documents in the winter semester of 2026/27. Structure and Course of Study
There are two study tracks in the Master of Business Education and Management Training. Both tracks comprise a compulsory area, an elective area, and the Master's thesis. The total workload is 120 credit points. In a full-time program, 30 credit points should be acquired per semester. Thus, the standard period of study is 4 semesters.
Track I can also be studied on a flexible part-time basis. In this case, 15 credit points must be earned per semester, and the standard period of study changes accordingly. More detailed information can be found in the regulations for part-time studies at the TU Dresden (in German only).

Study Track I
The basic structure of study track I is depicted by this study plan:
Compulsory Area
The complusory area of study track I comprises two sections. In the economic section, the module "Methodische Grundlagen" endows you with epistemological foundations and their application in business administration and economics research. Moreover, it refreshes and broadens methodological knowlegde and skills in a field of your choice.
The Business Education and Managment Training section includes some pertinent basic modules, an internship and practical school studies.
Elective Area
In the elective area, you take modules in amount of 55 credit points from the fields of Business Administration, Economics, and/or Supplement. You have to acquire
- at least 15 credit points from the field of Business Education and Management Training, and
- at least 30 credit points in the fields of Business Administration and/or Economics.

Study Track II
Generally, Study track II contains the compulsory area Business Education and Management Training, a qualification track, and an elective area - see the general outline below.
In the Elective Area, you have to choose modules in amount of 20 credit points from the fields Business Administration and/or Economics. Click here for more information on modules and specializations available.

Master Thesis and Research Seminar
The Master Thesis (20 credit points) and the Research Seminar usually consume the final semester. For the Master Thesis, you will work independently on a topic in business education and management training using scientific methods. The duration is four months. You get the necessary analytical and methodological skills and repeated feedback from your supervisor during the Research Seminar.
You are allowed to start with the Master Thesis only if you have already acquired 75 credit points in total before. Also, you must begin no later than the semester after passing the last exam.
The Chairs of the Faculty have different regulations on topic assignment, registration and (formal) requirements for the thesis. Please inform yourself here at the Chair of your choice!
