Results of the Third Survey Wave on the Digitalization of Public Health Offices Published
Together with Fraunhofer FIT Bayreuth and Freie Universität Berlin, our research group developed the maturity model for the digitalization of German public health offices and has now evaluated the third survey wave based on this model. The latest results are now available on the “Gesundheitsamt-2025” website, where the findings from the first two survey waves can also be found.
In the third survey wave, the number of participating public health offices increased to 376, representing a full survey of all German public health offices for the analysis of digital maturity. The survey shows significant progress, particularly in the areas of digitalization strategy and IT infrastructure. A key factor in these improvements is the growing employment of IT specialists. Public health offices that have hired such professionals achieved significantly higher maturity levels across nearly all dimensions of the model.
However, challenges remain, particularly in process digitalization and IT security. These areas require long-term investment and continuous improvement.
