EXIST Women: Empowering Women in the Startup Scene
Since December 2023, selected women from TU Dresden showing interest in entrepreneurship have been supported through the EXIST Women program. Among them is our colleague Emily Hickmann, who as a co-founder of ActiveTEP, is an integral part of this groundbreaking initiative. EXIST Women spans over a year and provides not only a three-month scholarship but also workshops on entrepreneurship and numerous networking opportunities.
ActiveTEP, a healthcare application, assists and supports patients 12 weeks before and after undergoing surgery for a hip replacement. Through a multitude of personalized and evidence-based knowledge modules, as well as a training program, patients are guided to adopt the right behaviors, ensuring the success of the operation. Reminder and self-monitoring functions further contribute to an optimal recovery process. For more information on ActiveTEP, please visit www.activetep.de.
In particular, the three-month scholarship provides Mrs. Hickmann with the necessary time to actively collaborate with her co-founders in further developing the ActiveTEP prototype, evaluating it with patients and clinicians, seeking suitable investors for the startup, and settling into her new role as one of the directors of ActiveTEP.
EXIST Women proves to be a valuable tool for the women's entrepreneurship scene, not only offering financial support but also providing the necessary resources and networks to successfully realize innovative ideas like ActiveTEP.
