Transforming Cancer Care: #CCI4EU Project Kick-Off Marks the Start of a Revolutionary Journey Towards Equitable and Advanced Cancer Culture
With great enthusiasm, we are participating in the kick-off meeting of the CCI4EU project, which takes place as part of the EC Horizon Europe initiative. In this project, 55 partners from 27 EU member states and 5 associated countries are working together towards an ambitious goal: revolutionizing cancer infrastructure at all levels through the promotion of crucial research and equitable dissemination of knowledge in the areas of prevention, diagnosis, and care.
To achieve this goal, the Digital Health research group, in collaboration with the German Cancer Society and the Karolinska Institute, will develop and implement a maturity model. This model will assess the current maturity level in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and care in order to develop and implement tailored capacity-building programs for the (further) development of cancer infrastructures in EU member states. The maturity model plays a central role in the project and is represented in almost all work packages, serving as "The Golden Thread of the CCI4EU Project." This exciting and important task will keep us busy in the coming months with a tight schedule.
During the kick-off meeting on May 23rd and 24th, 2023, in Milan, Dr. Hannes Schlieter from the Research Group Digital Health presented the planned approach for developing the Data Management Plan - an important and mandatory deliverable for which we are responsible. Workshops on the individual work packages discussed the tasks and dependencies between them, which were subsequently discussed in the large plenary session. This kick-off meeting helped sharpen the shared understanding, bring the project partners together, and strengthen their collaboration.
