New EU Project CCI4EU Starts in May 2023
We are happy to announce that the application for the new EU Project on Comprehensive Cancer Infrastructure for the European Union (CCI4EU) is confirmed and will officially start on 1st May 2023. Currently, the preparation of the Grant Agreement is in its final stage. The project will be funded by the Horizon Europe Mission Cancer.
CCI4EU has a duration of 36 months and overall aims to:
- Support EU member states and associated countries in developing or improving existing or future Comprehensive Cancer Infrastructures
- Foster research innovation and digital capacity development in cancer care
- Ensure that 90% of cancer patients are treated in CCIs by 2030 (according to one of the four key action areas of Europe's Beating Cancer Plan)
The project will be coordinated by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI). The project network comprises 55 Partners, including major European Cancer Organisations, cancer centers, and other representatives of all the EU Member States and several Associate Countries.
The Research Group Digital Health holds an essential role as part of the CCI4EU consortium. Under the work package leader, the German Cancer Society, the research group will develop and implement a maturity model for CCIs to be used to analyze the maturity of CCIs across the EU. Based on this, CCIs will be clustered, and capacity-building programs will be provided. The Research Group Digital Health will support this capacity building with their expertise on patient pathways.
The CCI4EU kick-off meeting will take place on the 23rd and 24th of May, 2023, in Milan.
