Important: If you are not studying in Germany, we cannot consider your application if you only apply through the CMCB Master's Application Portal. You must apply through both portals!

The application period is once a year, starting on April 1 and ending on May 31. The program begins in the winter semester, at the start of October.
All candidates will be notified of the selection committee’s decision within 4–7 weeks after the application deadline (after May 31).
The aptitude assessment is our selection process to evaluate your qualification for the Master’s program. The selection committee reviews your entire application, including your academic background, studied topics, motivation, recommendation letters, and lab or work experience.
If a decision cannot be made based solely on your application, you may be invited to an online interview to further assess your qualifications and motivation.
All candidates will be informed of the selection committee's decision within 4–7 weeks after the application deadline.
TU Dresden, like most German universities, does not charge tuition fees.
However, students must pay a semester contribution ("Semesterbeitrag"), which covers public transportation in Dresden and surrounding areas, as well as discounts on sports, social, and cultural activities.
The fee amount varies each semester and is currently around 290 EUR per semester.

We don't require a specific minimum GPA.
While the grades you earned during your Bachelor’s degree are an important factor in the admission decision, our selection committee evaluates the application as a whole, including your background, subjects studied, motivation, recommendation letters, and any lab or work experience.
All applicants, regardless of nationality, must submit the same documents and follow the same application process. However, applicants with a degree from China, Vietnam, or India must additionally provide an APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) certificate from the Academic Evaluation Centre at the German Embassy.

Once you register through our CMCB application portal, you will be automatically assigned an application number.
Applicants with a non-German degree must include this CMCB application number in the uni-assist portal.
We require two letters of recommendation that may be written in English or German. For our program Regenerative Biology and Medicine, please send only letters of recommendation written in English.
At least one letter must be from a university professor. If you have research experience, we also accept a recommendation from your lab supervisor or head of the lab.
No, recommendations must be submitted by the application deadline (May 31). Unfortunately, we cannot consider your application if any documents, including recommendation letters, are missing after the deadline.
Yes. While uni-assist allows you to submit one application for multiple programs, you must apply separately for each program through the CMCB Master's Application Portal.
When applying, you can indicate your 1st and 2nd choice programs.
Important: We can only consider your application for multiple programs if we receive a separate application for each program on the CMCB Master's Application Portal.
The program requires a minimum English proficiency level of B2. You can prove your English skills with one of the following:
- TOEFL (minimum 92 points, internet-based)
- IELTS (minimum 6.5)
- Certificates from other equivalent tests (e.g., UniCERT, CAE, CPE)
A diploma from a secondary school or university where the language of instruction was English (official confirmation from the institution is required).
Yes, you can use a diploma from a secondary school or university where the program was conducted entirely in English as proof of English proficiency.
However, we require official confirmation from your school or university stating that English was the language of instruction.

No, German is not required. All of our programs are taught entirely in English.
No, proof of English proficiency must be submitted by the application deadline (May 31).
We cannot consider your application if any required documents are missing by that date. Please ensure all documents, including proof of English proficiency, are submitted on time.
Yes, you can apply if you have not yet completed your degree or received your certificate.
To apply, you need to have completed at least 80% of your Bachelor’s degree. Please provide a document that confirms you have achieved at least 80% of the required credits, and includes your expected overall grade and graduation date.

No, you must upload your APS certificate by the application deadline (May 31). Unfortunately, we cannot consider your application if any documents, including the APS certificate, are missing after the deadline.
Please ensure that you upload your Vorprüfungsdokumentation (VPD) by the deadline, May 31. Unfortunately, we cannot consider your application if any required documents are missing after the deadline. We recommend submitting the VPD as soon as you receive it.
No, applications cannot be submitted by post or email.

No, submitting a TestAS certificate or GRE test results is not required. However, you are welcome to include them, as they may add value to your application.
It is important to submit a complete set of documents in both the CMCB Master's Application Portal and the uni-assist portal by May 31.
If you have done this, there is no need to worry. Uni-assist requires some time to process the documents. You will be notified once your application has been processed.
We are looking for motivated students with a strong background in biology or medicine and a keen interest in regenerative medicine. To be eligible, you should meet the following criteria:
- Solid foundational knowledge in biology or medicine, along with relevant wet lab experience (e.g., several weeks of lab work, an internship, or a small independent research project using molecular/cellular biology techniques). Please assess your own experience - if you meet this requirement, you are encouraged to apply.
- A first university degree in biology, medicine, or another field that requires comparable prior knowledge, particularly in molecular and cell biology.
- English proficiency: Non-native speakers must provide proof of their language skills (e.g., TOEFL iBT: min. 92 points, IELTS: min. 6.5, or equivalent certifications such as UniCERT or CPE).
- A strong interest in molecular and cell biology research with a clinical focus in regenerative medicine.
- Curiosity, initiative, and independent thinking.
