Dr. Anke Fuchs, research group leader at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) at TUD Dresden University of Technology was appointed as a TUD Young Investigator. The recognition provides support for the development of her academic career in research on advanced cellular therapeutics and strengthens her integration into the Medical Faculty of the TU Dresden.
"I am honored to be named a TUD Young Investigator. It is recognition of my commitment to translating biomedical research to clinical applications on our campus. I am excited about the opportunities the Young Investigator status provides for me in the education and mentorship of students. The appointment is a testament to the dedication of my team and will further strengthen our network within the Medical Faculty,” says Dr. Fuchs.
Since 2019, Dr. Anke Fuchs has been a research group leader at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) and fellow of the Mildred Scheel Early Career Center (MSNZ). Dr. Anke Fuchs and her team develop living drugs made from different cell types of our immune system. The Fuchs lab is one of the core groups within the SaxoCell cluster. Currently, the lab focuses on engineered immunosuppressive T cells than can calm down immune reactions in inflammation and autoimmunity and virus-reactive T cells to fight life-threatening infections in vulnerable patients. Furthermore, in cooperation with the Sieweke group, the Fuchs lab is working on the clinical implementeation of genetically modified macrophages as future treatment option for solid cancers.
The group works in close collaboration with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility at the CRTD that comprises three clean rooms and has dedicated staff for the manufacturing of cellular therapeutics.
