Dr. Anna Taubenberger Appointed TUD Young Investigator
Dr. Anna Taubenberger, research group leader at the Biotechnology Center (BIOTEC) at the TU Dresden was appointed a TUD Young Investigator. The recognition will facilitate her integration into the Medical Faculty of TU Dresden and support the development of her academic career.
"Being a TUD Young Investigator allows me to become more involved in the academic community at TUD, strengthening my ties with faculty members, and providing crucial support as I progress on my journey as a group leader," explains Dr. Taubenberger.
Outstanding research group leaders are granted the TUD Young Investigator status by TU Dresden, enabling them to strengthen their presence within the faculty and develop their leadership and mentoring skills. As TUD Young Investigators, they have the chance to evaluate doctoral theses, engage in teaching and other faculty activities, and receive customized training to propel their academic career forward.
Since 2020, Dr. Anna Taubenberger has been leading a research group at the BIOTEC as a Mildred Scheel Early Career Center (MSNZ) fellow. Her groups’ research focuses on understanding how mechanical properties of cancer cells and their surrounding tissues change during tumor development and metastasis. To do that, her group uses state-of-the-art equipment to characterize the mechanical properties of tumor samples. In addition to working with cancer tissue samples, the group also collaborates with research groups at the Max Bergmann Center to use bioengineered 3D in-vitro models to study how cell and microenvironment stiffness influence tumor growth, invasion, drug resistance, and metastasis. Through this fundamental research, new insights could be gained in the future, potentially paving the way for innovative therapeutic approaches in cancer treatment.
