Goal of "Together into the digital world 2"
The main objective of the project is to increase the competence of older people in the use of digital media in rural areas in Saxony. So-called technology ambassadors are to be trained to teach older people how to use digital media.
Description of the project
Volunteers (around the age of 60 and above) are trained as technology ambassadors. In the role of trained coaches, they are available as contact persons for other older people in their communities. They train them in the use of smartphones and tablets and show how to use the devices in a way that is relevant to everyday life. This establishes a teaching-learning offer for older adults in rural areas.
Project timeframe
06.01.2022–30.12.2022
Financial fundings
The project is funded by the Senior Citizens Policy Unit of the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion.

Goal of "Together into the digital world 1"
The overall objective of the project is to increase the competence in the use of digital media for older people in the post-acquisition phase in rural areas. Older people should gain confidence in using and familiarity with smartphones and tablets.
Description of the project
To achieve this goal, a teaching-learning programme for older adults in rural areas is being established. Technology-savvy older people who are motivated to work as volunteers are trained as experts. In the role of trained coaches, they are available as contact persons for older people in their communities. They train them in the use of smartphones and tablets and show them how to use the devices in a way that is relevant to everyday life. The continuation of these intragenerational teaching-learning meetings is planned in the
in the form of regular get-togethers. The project is being implemented in the district of Zwickau.
The project "Together into the digital world - increasing the digital media competence of older people in the post-acquisition phase in rural areas through needs-oriented educational work" is the responsibility of the Media Centre of the Technical University of Dresden and is being carried out jointly with the Chair of Business Education at the Technical University of Dresden, the Adult Education Centre Zwickau and the Saxon Adult Education Association.
