MetaHeritage
.
Target group
Cultural and tourism organizations, VR/XR companies and Metaverse start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises from various cultural heritage sectors with tourism marketing goals
Project overview
The MetaHeritage project, funded by the European Union, uses virtual technologies and intelligent solutions in the field of cultural tourism to explore new ways of cooperation between regions. The focus is on cultural routes, physical and digital heritage in the form of cultural, social and industrial legacy as well as applications and sustainable tourism in the metaverse. The project takes a holistic approach, connecting regions with different levels of development (including Northern Portugal, Azores, Thuringia, Saxony, Brussels and Vienna).
The aim is to better connect less developed regions with each other and to strengthen their innovative power by using creative "out-of-the-box" approaches: With the help of modern technologies such as the Metaverse, cultural heritage is brought to life in an innovative way. This creates new business models that promote sustainable tourism and trigger investment in regional development strategies.
By involving a wide range of stakeholders - from cultural institutions to digital service providers and public administrations - MetaHeritage promotes skills development, innovative business models and advisory services in a targeted manner. In this way, it contributes to the sustainable development of cultural tourism, particularly in rural regions, and to Europe's digital competitiveness.
- Promoting sustainable growth: Combining digital innovations with cultural heritage tourism and entrepreneurship to create new economic opportunities and consolidate existing structures.
- Strengthen regional cooperation: companies, universities, authorities and civil society will network in a targeted manner to promote interregional and cross-industry cooperation and smart specializations.
- Reduce regional disparities: support disadvantaged regions with concrete tools and resources to give them access to European innovation networks and funding programs.
