Monstrously Good – 1st Place@ECEL2020
The 19th European Conference on e-Learning (ECEL) took place from 28 to 30 October 2020, which - like so many conferences this year - was hosted online and supported by the University of Applied Sciences HTW Berlin. The Cluster Digital Learning and Game Cultures participated in the conference with a poster contribution called "Monsters in the Classroom? How to promote gamification readiness of educators". In December, the authors Helge Fischer, Corinna Lehmann and Matthias Heinz received the news that their poster had won the first place. The poster arouses curiosity about the Parcours on Gamification (PonG), a workshop concept that makes teachers gamification ready.
PonG is a gamified train-the-trainer concept and addresses the target group of educators. PonG pursues the goal of increasing motivation to learn through the use of gamification (elements) and, thereby, enabling increased learning output and an individual learning experience. The topic of gamification is conveyed to the workshop participants using gamified learning stations. Scenarios for game elements in teaching scenarios are as well considered as is the pedagogical mindset (gamification-readiness), which teachers need to create gamified learning scenarios.
A short contribution to the poster is available under doi 10.34190/EEL.20.026 or here.
