Project start JOHANNA: Hybrid care advice for self-determined ageing in rural areas
On February 1, 2026, the Center for Open Digital Innovation and Participation (CODIP) launched the research project JOHANNA - Development and testing of a concept for hybrid care advice for self-determined ageing in rural areas.
The aim of the project is to develop, test and scientifically evaluate a transferable model of hybrid care advice for rural regions. JOHANNA combines digital and personal advice formats to relieve the burden on family caregivers, strengthen informal care and promote the social participation of older people in the long term. At the same time, the project addresses the further development of digital advisory skills and sustainable regional support structures in the care context. In close cooperation with the practice partner, the German Red Cross District Association Löbau e.V., needs are analyzed in a participatory manner, qualification structures are developed and piloted in model municipalities.
JOHANNA is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) as part of the "WIR! - Wandel durch Innovation in der Region" funding line. With JOHANNA, CODIP is providing further impetus for scientifically sound innovations at the interface of digitalization, care and regional structural change.
