NA DAAD publishes Erasmus+ impact report 2023
The National Agency for Erasmus+ University Cooperation in the German Academic Exchange Service (NA DAAD) has published the impact report for 2023. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the impact and results of the Erasmus+ program in Germany to date.
Scope and focus of the program
The current Erasmus+ program period, which runs between 2021 and 2027, has a budget of 28.4 billion euros, almost twice as much as the previous program period 2014-2020. The program promotes the mobility of students, teachers and university staff as well as a wide range of cooperation projects. Key priorities include inclusion and diversity, digital transformation, the environment and combating climate change, as well as participation in democratic life
Achievements and figures for 2023
Around 55,000 people were supported by Erasmus+ in the 2021-2023 period, including both students and university staff. There was a particular focus on projects for inclusion and support for people with fewer opportunities, such as first-time graduates and working students. In addition, 33 new cooperation projects were launched, meaning that a total of 113 projects are currently being funded.
Sustainability and green mobility
Erasmus+ attaches great importance to sustainability. This is reflected in the promotion of environmentally friendly means of transportation and the integration of sustainable practices into educational projects. For example, the use of rail travel is promoted in order to reduce the ecological footprint of mobility. Mobility formats such as short-term stays are also supported to enable more flexible and sustainable educational paths.
Future prospects
By the end of the current program phase, Erasmus+ plans to enable a further ten million mobility activities. Seventy percent of the budget is to be used for mobility and 30 percent for cooperation projects and political measures. A central goal remains the increased integration of sustainability and inclusion in all aspects of the program
