6th call for funding guidelines for validation funding
With this call, the Free State of Saxony intends to select and subsequently fund projects for the validation of research results within the scope of the individual project module of the validation funding guideline with the help of a competitive preliminary application procedure.
The validation of research results aims to transfer promising research results into application. The funding serves to examine the innovation potential, demonstrate and evaluate the economic applicability and develop possible applications. Successful validation of research results provides proof of the technical and economic feasibility of these results based on the specific requirements of the subsequent users or the companies providing the products/services.
The funding is part of the innovation strategy of the Free State of Saxony and aims to make the best possible use of innovation potential, taking into account openness to technology and industry and using different innovation paths. Particular importance is attached to the future fields of environment, raw materials, digital, energy, mobility and health.
Funding is provided for projects to validate promising research results for commercial exploitation with a project period of up to
18 months and eligible expenditure of up to 250,000 euros ("validation project").
If the application is selected and approved, the funding amounts to
90 percent of the eligible expenditure. Personnel expenses that are already covered by public budgets and own contributions are not eligible for funding. The own contribution must therefore be paid in cash. As personnel expenses are funded as a lump sum and this is generally lower than the actual costs incurred, additional own funds are required to cover shortfalls in personnel expenses in addition to the above-mentioned own contribution. An estimate of these costs is made during the application process.
The number of admissible applications for TU Dresden is limited to six as part of the call. For this reason, an internal university pre-selection will be made.
Further information on the specific application process and the documents to be submitted can be found on our program page.
According to the SMWA call, there will be four further deadlines until 2026. The next deadline will be 02.06.2025, the internal deadline for this will be 02.05.2025.
