The energy system of tomorrow: New Horizon 2020 research project "REFLEX" launched
In May 2016 the large-scale, international research project "REFLEX - Analysis of the European energy system under the aspects of flexibility and technological progress" was launched. The chair of Energy Economics (Prof. Dr. Dominik Möst) of the TU Dresden is coordinating this project. The European Project Center (EPC) is responsible for the project management of this TUD coordinated project.
REFLEX is funded by the European Union within the framework of Horizon 2020.
The core objective of REFLEX is to analyse and evaluate the development towards a low-carbon energy system with focus on flexibility options in the European Union until the year 2050 to support the implementation of the SET-Plan. The international consortium of the project consists of 9 institutions from Sweden, Poland, Italy, Switzerland and Germany in the fields of Energy Modeling (electricity, heat and transport sectors), techno-economic analysis as well as social reporting and life-cycle analysis.
The kick-off meeting of the project took place from 10 - 11 May 2016 at the TU Dresden. The aim of the 2-day kick-off meeting was to sharpen the project objectives as well as the content and to coordinate the next steps together. In particular, the interactions between the different sectors (electricity, heat and transport), the interfaces of the models and the framework for scenario and model calculations have been specified.
