EP PerMed announced its 2026 call - "Personalized Medicine for CARdiovascular, MEtabolic, and kidNey diseases"
The EP PerMed has published its Call 2026 (JTC2026) "Personalized Medicine for CARdiovascular, MEtabolic, and kidNey diseases" (acronym: CARMEN2026), co-funded by the European Union. The aim is to promote multinational, innovative research projects in the School of Medicine (PM), with the aim of bringing together academic, clinical/public health sectors and private sector research teams.
The call has a two-stage structure and the available budget is approximately €38 million.
Aim of the call:
EP PerMed will fund human health research projects that develop innovative PM strategies for patients with cardiovascular, metabolic or renal diseases. Research projects can focus on a single disease or investigate combinations of these diseases. Applications should address one or more of the following aspects:
- 1. innovative personalized therapeutic approaches;
- 2. monitoring treatment response in order to customize treatment pathways
- 3. early prediction of disease risk and prevention of disease exacerbation or comorbidities.
The overarching goals of EP PerMed are:
- To promote and enable interdisciplinary collaboration, i.e. multi-stakeholder research involving relevant disciplines such as preclinical and clinical research, bioinformatics/health informatics/data science, ELSA research, implementation research or health economics related to the proposed research topic, including analyses from an end-user perspective, to facilitate the implementation of personalized medicine;
- Promote cross-sector collaboration, by involving the private sector (e.g. SMEs, small and medium-sized enterprises, industry) as well as regulatory/HTA (Health Technology Assessment) agencies and patient organizations.
Timetable and funding conditions:
- Funding for universities via the BMG, BMFT decision still pending
- December 16, 2025 - Info day
- February 10, 2026 - Submission of project outlines
- June 09, 2026 - Submission of full proposals
- Collaborative projects with at least 3 partners from 3 participating countries
