ERA4CS: European Research Area for Climate Services
On April 06, 2016 the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has released a new funding announcement for projects in the field of climate service.
Project proposals should aim on one or more of the following topics:
- Research in support of the development and deployment of Climate Service (CS)
Enhancing the quality and relevance of CS through better governance, of open access, evaluation and quality control of climate information, data and CS providers. Assessing the demand and creating new ideas for market settings. - Integration and application of Climate Science for decision making
Integrating climate predictions and/or projections with impact, vulnerability and adaptation research. Facilitating and/or accelerating decision-making. - Research for co-development of advanced Climate Services
Better understanding of user needs and behavior. Co-development of advanced tools, methods and instruments.
The CS projects shall draw on information from multiple disciplines, including climate sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities and Engineering as appropriate.
The start of the projects is planned for Spring 2017. Project duration should be 3 years.
The application process is a two-stage submission process. The Pre-proposal deadline is 15 June 2016. The deadline to submit full proposals is supposed to be on 15 November 2016.
