ESF Plus “STEM Skilled Workers Program 2021 – 2027” guidelines approved by Cabinet
In a cabinet meeting on September 13, 2022, the Saxon State Government approved the funding guidelines for the new European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) “STEM Skilled Workers Program 2021 – 2027.” The guidelines are due for publication on September 29, 2022, after which time applications may be submitted.
A total of 101 million euros will be available until 2027. This sum is supplied by the European Union and the Free State of Saxony, who are contributing 88 million and 13 million euros, respectively. In the funding period which ran between 2014 and 2020, the program enabled the realization of around 1,000 projects with a total investment volume of almost 90 million euros.
Universities may submit applications for the InnoTeam and Transfer Assistant projects.
InnoTeams support collaboration between Saxon companies, universities and research institutes for the development and improvement of products or processes. Companies thus benefit directly from the expertise available at Saxony's universities and research institutes. The projects encourage dialogue, support the establishment of long-term collaborations and consequently strengthen the innovative power of Saxony's SMEs. Saxon SMEs are supported with a personnel cost subsidy for innovative and technology-oriented projects.
It’s the transfer assistants’ job to support Saxon SMEs in transferring specialist knowledge. To this end, they are assigned to transfer offices at Saxon universities or to technology intermediaries and prepare knowledge specifically for SMEs.
