Research funding in the field of Microelectronics within the Eureka Cluster PENTA
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research actively participates in the European Eureka-Cluster PENTA ("Pan-European Partnership in micro- and Nano-electronic Technologies and Applications", 2016-2020) and published the new Call for Proposals for the 2018 funding round.
The purpose of the Cluster, which was initiated by the countries Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Hungary and Turkey, is to catalyze research, development and innovation in areas of micro- and nanoelectronics enabled systems and applications across the value chain. Between 2016 and 2020, bi- and multilateral strategic R&D-projects will be funded.
Eligible for funding are bi- or multilateral, industry-driven R&D collaborative projects with the following main topics:
a) Innovations in the field of microelectronics and their applications in growth areas:
- Electronic systems for intelligent future production ("Industry 4.0")
- Electronic systems for intelligent medical (healthcare) systems
- Electronic systems for automotive applications and automated driving
b) Basic technological innovations for the future microelectronics, especially those, which aim on the under a) named growth areas.
The submission of proposals is organised in a two-stage procedure. Deadline for the submission of project outlines is 13 February 2018 at 5 pm (CET).
You can find the Call on the website of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research at https://www.bmbf.de/foerderungen/bekanntmachung-1474.html.
Please find more information on PENTA at http://www.penta-eureka.eu/.
On 11 January 2018 at 11am, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research will offer a Webinar on the funding programme’s contents and the application procedure. You will also be given the opportunity to ask questions.
Please note that the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Free State of Saxony closely cooperate within the PENTA funding programme. For projects of strategic significance, the Free State of Saxony is going to cover for half of the funding budget. In order to receive funding from the Free State of Saxony, applicants need to submit an extra form in addition to their proposal: http://www.elektronikforschung.de/dateien/bekanntmachungen/penta-saechsischer-antrag-2018.pdf.
Please do not hesitate to contact the team of the EPC in case you have any questions or require support with the preparation of your proposal.
