implementation/customization of additional IT services or databases
The project application or data management plan may also contain the planned setup of specific services/software. Various options exist:
- Set up/adapt existing TUD services
- Set up/adapt additional software on so-called virtual machines (see below)
The Service Center Research Data can support researchers in implementing / adapting services (see Support for your research data management). Thereby, the project partners carry out the administration of the services (which requires IT resources, especially in the case of virtual machines).
Available IT services of the TUD are
- Project platforms on Microsoft Sharepoint (see Sharepoint)
- Management of survey studies with REDCap
- ... etc., see IT services of the ZIH
Additional IT services
The ZIH offers the provision of virtual machines/servers as a service to every member of the TU Dresden. A virtual machine is a computer that can be used for providing databases and similar services via network. By configuring access rights, this service may also be made available to external partners.
Examples of such software/services with which we have already employed are
-
Time series databases with InfluxDB
-
Flexible databases for various purposes with Mongo-DB
-
Joint editing and analysis of Linked Data with Wikibase
-
and others...
