Jung Medal for Medicine in Gold 2027
The Jung Medal for Medicine in Gold serves as recognition for lifetime achievement. It honours outstanding contributions to the advancement of medicine and recognises the achievements of a scientist's career in clinical practice and research.
As with the Jung Prize, candidates for the Jung Medal are nominated; it is not possible to apply independently. Each year in November, the foundation's board of trustees, which consists of six renowned international scientists, selects the medal winner for the following year from among the nominees.
The medal is not only a symbolic gesture – it also comes with a scholarship currently worth 30,000 euros. The medal winner may award this to a young scientist of their choice. The Jung Foundation has been awarding the Jung Medal for Medicine in Gold since 1990. The medal winners include pioneers from various medical disciplines.
Candidates for the award are nominated; it is not possible to apply independently. The following is required for online submission:
- a sentence explaining why the nominee should receive the award (max. 30 words),
- a summary of the nominee's achievements and what they mean for the field,
- a list of 6 key publications,
- the nominee's complete CV, including the most important awards.
