ReCoN booking software
ReCoN booking software - Efficient management of research resources
ReCoN(Research Commons Network) is the central management software of the TUD Dresden University of Technology for the administration and booking of scientific equipment and services. It provides a university-wide overview, a standardized booking platform and support for billing processes for seamless further processing in TUD Dresden's ERP system.
What is ReCoN?
ReCoN is based on the Infinity X software from the American company Idea Elan, which has been specially adapted to the requirements of TU Dresden. It is operated as a

software-as-a-service solution, with a planned comprehensive implementation in all core facilities of TUD. TU Dresden has thus opted for a system that is used in leading research institutions worldwide.

Target groups and possible applications
Researchers can use ReCoN to search for resources in a targeted manner and book them with just a few clicks. The main target groups of ReCoN are the operators of research infrastructures and their users - including users of non-university institutions and partners. TU Dresden's core facilities benefit in particular from the software, as they can professionally manage, present and offer their equipment and services for use. The standardized solution offers advantages both in resource management and in the billing process. Booking and billing data is processed directly in the software, so that invoicing can be carried out with virtually no manual intervention in the ERP system. This enables seamless collaboration within the platform for everyone involved - from users and administrators to administrative staff.
Core benefits and future possibilities
ReCoN is primarily aimed at the core facilities of TU Dresden's technology platforms. In addition, the project team is continuously examining other possible uses, such as the loan or shared use of research equipment, which goes beyond the current scope.
Conditions of use and access
Reminder of first steps:
- Log in via SSO, apply for a guest account
- Form for creating a lab / working group
- Seeking support
A valid TU Dresden ZIH account is required to use ReCoN. In order to access specific resources, an additional activation for the respective core facility and an associated working group is required. These authorizations can be requested via the software.
In addition to TU Dresden researchers, other interested parties with a ZIH login also have the opportunity to explore the university's central research infrastructures via ReCoN. Further information and instructions on how to use ReCoN can be found on the project website, in the internal area or on request to the Technology Platforms team via e-mail.
