Objectives of the project:

• To establish a Reference Power Plant in the Schwarze Pumpe industrial park, which exclusively uses renewable energy, comprising an electrolyzer, storage tanks, battery storage systems, supercapacitors and a fuel cell.
• To demonstrate opportunities for sector coupling in conjunction with the Reference Power Plant.
• To provide evidence that the power plant can provide grid services as a replacement for the flywheel energy storage systems of conventional power plants with turbines.

Objectives of the Chair of Energy Process Engineering’s subproject

• To develop a process management tool, which, in addition to hydrogen, analyzes other material and energy flows with a view to how they can be integrated into additional processes or sectors.
• To derive potential uses for sector coupling.
