TU Dresden sees itself as a globally oriented yet regionally anchored top university for the 21st century. In order to stay true to this aspiration and make a difference in the region, TUD is building the TUD | Campus Lusatia in the region of the same name.
As part of the campus, TUD will establish research projects and research infrastructure projects at various locations in Lusatia in order to support the region as it undergoes structural change. TUD | Campus Lusatia will have two centers: Hoyerswerda/Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park and Zittau/Görlitz. TUD | Campus Lusatia will also be active at these locations with large-scale, forward-looking research infrastructure projects, which will support the long-term development of the region as an innovative area offering a high quality of life. These include the Construction Future Lab (CFLab) in Görlitz and the German Center for Astrophysics in Görlitz and Hoyerswerda as well as the Green Circular Economy (CircEcon), Smart Mobility Lab (SML), and Reference Power Plant Lusatia (RefLau) projects at Hoyerswerda/Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park.
A number of these research projects have been ongoing for some time now. You can see which projects have already been completed on the map below. The research infrastructure projects are currently in the advanced stages of construction planning. According to the plans, the research buildings at the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park and in Hoyerswerda will be finished by the end of 2026. The German Center for Astrophysics already has permanent premises in Hoyerswerda and temporary premises in Görlitz. The planning for the construction of the new buildings is in progress.
