SUPER SUPERVISOR 2025 Prof. Dr. Inez Weidinger
Doctoral supervision? Excellent!
To raise awareness of the importance of good supervision for our doctoral candidates, the Graduate Academy (GA) has been granting an Award for Outstanding Doctoral Supervision since 2017. This makes the TUD Dresden University of Technology one of the first universities in Germany to establish such an award.
The response from doctoral candidates and postdocs was once again high this year, with 57 nominations. The number of nominations and the appreciative laudatory speeches show that excellent work is being done at TU Dresden in supervising our early career researchers.
The prize is endowed with 3,000 euros, which will be used to support early-career researchers.
Super Supervisor 2025
This year, Prof. Inez Weidinger | Faculty of Chemistry | Chair of Electrochemistry received the Award for Outstanding Doctoral Supervision. Prof. Weidinger has already been nominated several times in previous years.
We congratulate her on this well-deserved award!
Excerpts from the Laudationes
Prof. Weidinger's treatment of her doctoral students is extraordinarily fair and outstanding on a human level. [...] I draw my motivation and inspiration for my doctoral project from her supervision, and without exaggeration, I can say that without her as my doctoral supervisor, I would probably not have started as a doctoral student at the TUD.
"With her friendly and competent manner, Professor Weidinger shows that a working group can be led based on mutual respect and trust."
"Her efforts and enthusiasm for topics such as new teaching concepts, witty experiments, and findings at the edge of the research topic are outstanding. This results in a free and open atmosphere, knowing that your scientific enthusiasm, however it may be expressed, is shared and supported by her. No matter what problems you may be facing or where obstacles arise, a meeting with Inez makes everything better!"
