Who are we?
Since May 10, 2021, TU Dresden has joined forces with the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital Dresden to operate the Physiotherapeutic Teaching Center for Well-Being and Movement with additional support from the Studentenwerk Dresden (Students’ Union).
Courses offered at the Teaching Center are conducted by second and third year physiotherapy trainees at the Carus Academy under the supervision of specialist instructors.
The internship, which lasts several weeks, allows trainees to gain skills specific to their profession through a fitting combination of theory and practical experience. This skills lab concept provides a safe space with a realistic work environment that covers everything from physiotherapy treatment to practice organization, representing a valuable opportunity for the trainees.
This is the only institution of its kind in Germany.
What do we do?
Our services are open to all TU Dresden staff and are completely free of charge! We cater both to people without specific ailments and people with specific health issues.
Our work is prevention-oriented and supports occupational health,
i.e. we do not work on the basis of prescriptions issued by statutory health insurance physicians.
Our services:
- Comprehensive health screening, comprising medical consultation as well as movement tests from a physiotherapeutic perspective
- Practical physiotherapeutic exercises based on screening results and tailored to individual needs
- Various group courses
(Registration is valid for the entire duration of the course, but you are not obliged to attend every course.) - Exercises such as active work breaks
(Contact us with individual requests via phone or email). - Physiotherapeutic workplace ergonomics analysis
(Contact us with individual requests via phone or email).
Please note that our services are only available by prior appointment!
How does it work?
A physiotherapeutic screening is always the first step: We get to know each other personally in an initial meeting, share information and clarify individual concerns. In the second part of the screening, we test your physical capabilities and use the results to set appropriate personal goals for you. We will then schedule 6 to 8 personal appointments where we can work together to take preventative measures and improve your health!
After a series of treatments, we recommend a follow-up screening for individual evaluation. We also look forward to seeing you at our courses on a regular basis!
To arrange a personal consultation, please contact us by phone or email!
As the deployment of the trainees at the Training Center must be coordinated with their training schedules at the vocational school, the teams of three trainees change every 4 to 5 weeks. This may result in periods during which the Teaching Center is not staffed and no courses are on offer. We will inform you in good time!
How to contact us?
The easiest way to reach us is via email. We strive to be available by telephone during our opening hours, although we cannot always guarantee this during busy periods.
