Classical Studies / Greek Literature
The Chair's aim is to make ancient Greek literature as vivid, tangible and lively as possible in all its fascinating diversity. To this end, our research and teaching often take place at the interface between literary texts and the material culture of the ancient world. In addition, our work is characterized by a strong interest in the topic of "Antiquity and the senses": we investigate the sound of ancient languages and texts as well as the representation of smells in ancient literature. We also invite a broader public to such sensory approaches to the ancient world, who will always find our doors open to them.
