EU grant-application success!
The Centre for Teacher Education and Education research at TU Dresden (the ZLSB) is to receive 1.5 million euros to lead the "Teacher Academies (TAP-TS)" project, focused on education for sustainability, as part of an international consortium. The successful bid achieved the outstanding rating of 90%, and is one of only ten such projects approved by ERASMUS plus this year. The bid was submitted in 2021 by Maria Richter-Babekoff, Laura Mitzscher and Tina Czaja on behalf of the ZLSB.
The project will develop, produce, test, validate and publish high-quality teaching and learning resources for environmental sustainability education (EES) for use in European schools and teacher training. All TAP-TS teacher academies will be open source, aligned with ECTS standards, and provide credentials to project participants. Academy activities will include teaching and learning events, online workshops, and summer schools.
The geographically and culturally diverse TAP-TS consortium brings together three preeminent teacher education institutions, two leading national teacher professional development institutions, three training schools, a leading educational technology company, and a non-profit civil society organization working in the field of sustainability. Experts in education for environmental sustainability from seven European countries with experience in primary, secondary, continuing and non-formal education will be directly involved.
The impact of the TAP-TS academy will extend far beyond the consortium and the three-year duration of the project, through the propagation of open-source materials and strengthened professional development networks for teachers and teacher educators across the EU. The project is due to launch in April 2022.
