#courage2018: Event series „Wissen dekolonisieren“
The event series „Wissen dekolonisieren“ at the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden was curated by Fatima El-Tayeb, Professor of Literature and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, San Diego, and is part of the #courage2018 programme in cooperation with the Centre for Integration Studies at the TU Dresden (ZfI).
Between 23 August and 13 September, the colonial legacy and the power structures and racist bodies of knowledge that have grown up in connection with it will be addressed in three evening discussion rounds.
Each evening will focus on: colonial urban histories and postcolonial everyday life in public space, postcolonial de- and remembrance in institutions or the question of representation through discourses of the majority society. Colonialism and racism are closely interwoven and operate almost unnoticed in many ways and on different levels. Therefore, the series of events will question everyday things as well as the claim to objectivity and neutrality of science and knowledge production.
An overview of the individual events as well as other offers within the framework of #courage2018 can be found here.
