The student initiative IDA (In Dresden Ankommen) at the Centre for Integration Studies of the TU Dresden is realising a new project together with the project "Treff Arbeitssuche" of Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. to support refugee job seekers in the application process. On Saturday, 24 March 2018 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, refugees can take part in a professional portrait photo shoot. For this purpose, a studio will be set up in the event rooms of the association "Schwarzes Schaf e.V." in Louisenstr. 44. The application portraits are then integrated into the professionally prepared CVs by the refugees themselves, with the support of volunteers. Volunteers support the refugees in this process.

Moritz Montenegro from IDA explains: "In my work at the homework meeting, I have noticed that more and more people speak very good German and have now laid the foundation for entering professional life, but that they also need support in other areas". The staff of the Malteser-Treff job search centre confirm that more and more refugees are reaching language levels that qualify them for training, studies or jobs. "Impeccable application documents are an elementary prerequisite for further steps towards a job and career", adds Lara Jo Pitzer from the organisation team. The goal is therefore to increase the labour market and training opportunities through improved application documents and thus enable the social participation of refugees.

In the course of the multi-step process of preliminary discussion, photo shoot and perfecting the CV, the refugees learn with the help of Malteser integration volunteers how to create professional CVs and what to look for in a good application portrait.

Through their commitment, IDA and Malteser not only want to help the refugees now, but also think about the future. "We would like to see an awareness of the challenges ahead", says Montenegro and adds with a broad smile: "Each of us can do something for the success of integrating refugees into the labour and training market".
