Open Educational Resources (OER)
Open Educational Resources are freely accessible and usable teaching and learning materials. The idea behind this is to increase the interconnection of knowledge and make it available to everyone who wants to access it. OER therefore stands for an open, low-barrier and integrated future of science. Nevertheless, some prejudices persist, especially when it comes to data protection and privacy issues. To counteract this, various collaborative projects have been set up in recent years to develop cross-university OER networks. The federal government's OER strategy has now finally paved the way for OER-promoting measures.
The GSW department has developed a wide range of different OER formats, especially in recent years, which are for instance available through the SLUB OER-Display. These include lecture lecordings, OPAL courses, PDF documents and much more.
Together with the Digital Teaching teams in the other departments, we have created a handout with the most important information for getting started with the topic and finding OER materials. Handout OER (German) | Handout OER (English)
Are you also thinking about making your teaching and learning materials available as OER? We would be happy to support you in the creation and preparation of the documents, e.g. with the selection of suitable licences or the right platform for publication. If we are unable to help you, we will gladly refer you to the relevant contact points.
