History of the faculty

The Faculty of Education at the TUD Dresden University of Technology has a long tradition. As part of the reorganization of faculties in the early 1990s (Act on the Structure of Higher Education and Universities in the Free State of Saxony of 10 April 1992), the Faculty of Education at TUD Dresden University of Technology was founded on 9 July 1993.

It continues a long tradition of pedagogical study programs at TU Dresden (or its predecessor institutions) that goes back to the middle of the 19th century.

A quarter of a century later, the Faculty is one of the largest educational institutions in Germany, and its students now make up the largest student group at the TUD Dresden University of Technology.

The Faculty of Education's public relations working group has created information boards on the history of the Weberplatz 5 building complex and the development of the Faculty of Education, which are displayed in the building.

Since August 2025, the Faculty has been located in the building at Münchner Strasse 1 (MS1).
