Bromatology laboratory
The nutritional science laboratory offers Teacher Training - Vocational Schools students (Department of Food, Nutrition and Home Economics) a place to learn and combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills.
In the practice-oriented learning units, students acquire a sound grounding in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry and nutrition.
The laboratory enables both chemical and biological investigations, which are essential for a deep understanding of the processes involved in food and (human) nutrition. A particular advantage of the nutritional science laboratory is its direct spatial connection to the teaching and experimental kitchen. This proximity makes it possible to use both specialist rooms in a complementary manner and thus build a bridge between experimental laboratory work and practical application in food preparation and processing. This creates ideal conditions for experiencing the various facets of nutritional science education holistically.
In the laboratory, the student teachers also develop their experimental skills in a targeted manner, which they will need in their later professional context in order to plan, carry out and evaluate experiments and tests independently. This is supported by innovative teaching-learning arrangements in which the students not only develop teaching-learning arrangements independently, but also carry out and reflect on their implementation in terms of integration into future lessons.
The nutritional science laboratory is therefore a place of learning, testing and reflection. It combines scientific precision with practical teaching and thus creates a sound basis for the professional competence of future teachers.
