The history of the Institute
The Institute’s history dates back to the founding of the Pädagogisches Institut (Pedagogical Institute) at Technische Universität Dresden in 1924. Since then, students of commercial education and vocational school teachers have almost always been able to earn a Diplom at Technische Universität Dresden. In 1991, it became clear that the Ministry of Education also offered a new start for the Institute of Vocational Education, which was expanded in 2012 to include the Institute of Special Education. Research and teaching at the Institute is characterized by close collaboration with the engineering disciplines at TU Dresden and with many surrounding companies. The Institute has been highly dedicated to the international market for decades and offers international Master's degree programs in various languages both in Germany and abroad, as well as PhD education networks in collaboration with developing countries across the globe.
