Excursion to the Regional Directorate of the Federal Employment Agency in Chemnitz
On Tuesday, 3 December 2024, the Chair of Adult Education and the students of the degree programs "Continuing Education Research and Organizational Development" and "Vocational Education and personnel capacity building" went on an excursion to the Regional Directorate of the Federal Employment Agency in Chemnitz.
After a warm welcome, we were first given an overview of the tasks and structure of the Federal Employment Agency. The presentation "Current developments on the labor and training market" used extensive data and statistics from the Federal Employment Agency to provide current insights into developments on the labor market at a national level and specifically in Saxony. The presentation covered both historical developments and forecasts for the future, e.g. with regard to the development of the number of people in employment in Saxony.
This was followed by an introduction to the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), which acts as a research institute for the Federal Employment Agency. The IAB continuously analyzes the labor market, monitors trends and also works on regional issues and projects as part of its network. The scientific activities and results of the IAB are also used for policy advice
After a very tasty lunch, we were given an insight into the Federal Agency's advice center with a focus on training and further education. We were then introduced to the further training platform Mein Now, a digital tool for searching for further training throughout Germany. This platform was developed by the Federal Agency's IT system house in collaboration with partners and is one of many innovative digital offerings from the Federal Agency.
Finally, the human resources department of the Federal Agency presented the diverse career opportunities at the BA and gave insights into the organization as a potential employer for our students.
We would like to thank the entire team at the Regional Directorate for the exciting excursion and the varied insights into the work of the Federal Agency!
