Description of the Project
EU policies, especially in the field of vocational education and training (VET), may seem complex, bureaucratic, or distant. However, they play a crucial role in everyday life, shaping the way vocational education is delivered across Europe. For instance, the European VET (EUVET) policy encourages the mobility of learners, apprentices, teachers, and trainers, and focuses on recognition of qualifications, the creation of qualification frameworks, and a shift towards outcome-based learning. These initiatives aim to foster a highly skilled European workforce. Despite these benefits, the practical implementation of these policies often presents challenges for VET providers.
This project seeks to bridge the gap between EUVET policy and its application in daily teaching and training practices. The goal is twofold: first, to investigate how EUVET policy instruments and tools are addressed in VET programs across partner countries, and second, to a better understanding of EUVET policy and thus may help improving the image of EUVET policy. By fostering dialogue between partners in Northern, Central, and Southern Europe, the project will provide a broad and diverse perspective on how to improve the integration of EUVET policies into educational practices.
Aims of the Project
The project aims at contributing to the visibility and comprehensibility of EU VET policy instruments and tools among VET providers and their staff. We strive to enhance the practical application of these tools through the following key objectives:
- Exploring the implementation of EU VET policy as part of VET programmes
- Identification of interests, challenges and best practices;
- Developing learning units that support the European idea, illustrating coreideas and benefits of EU VET policy (tools) and contribute to a better under-standing;
- fostering exchange to enhance EU VET policy.
Key Outcomes
- Four Learning Units: We will develop learning units that support VET providers with implementing the “European idea”, EUVET policy strategies and tools.
- Increased Awareness: The project promotes a deeper understanding, public awareness and reception of EU VET policy and related tools and instruments.
- International Collaboration: the interconnection, mutual learning and mutual exchange of the involved project partners in four European countries.
Target Groups
The project addresses VET staff in Europe with a particular focus on the partners countries: Estonia, Germany, Greece, and Portugal and is designed to benefit a wide range of stakeholders in vocational education and training , including:
- VET Providers and Schools: By fostering learning about EU VET policy instruments and tools among VET staff, VET institutions can implement such tools and support European vaules and ideas as well as opportunities for their learniers and staff.
- VET Teachers and Trainer: As key actors in vocational education, they will receive tailored learning materials to help them communicate the core ideas of EU VET policy effectively and integrate the tools in their daily work.
- VET Learners: While addressed indirectly, learners will benefit from better-informed teachers and trainers, leading to more engaging and relevant educational experiences.
Partnership
Our partnership brings together institutions from four diverse European countries—Germany, Portugal, Greece, and Estonia—covering a broad spectrum of expertise in vocational education and training as well as adult education. Our partners include a university, a training company, a VET provider, and an NGO, each contributing unique insights and strengths to the project.
