Education4change – Ideas for Sustainable Higher Education in the WiSe 2026/27
How can we empower students to think critically, act with foresight, and develop creative solutions to societal and professional challenges?
The short input series Education4Change starts again this summer semester 2026 and offers you the opportunity to exchange ideas with lecturers from various Saxon universities about innovative approaches to future-oriented higher education.
In one-hour digital lunch sessions, practitioners from different disciplines will provide impulses and present good practice examples of how transformative teaching and learning formats can be designed, and how higher education can prepare students to actively shape a sustainable future. Each session will also provide space for your experiences, questions, and reflections.
When? Throughout the winter semester, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Where? Online via Zoom (permanent participation link, no registration required)
Dates & information: hd-sachsen.de
The first interactive impulse talk will be held by Dr. Antje Goller and Prof. Dr. Jana Markert (Chair of Nutrition and Home Economics) on October 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.:
No one is starting from scratch – Identifying connections to Education for Sustainable Development in your own teaching and building on what is already there
Implementing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in individual courses, modules, or entire degree programmes can seem challenging given limited time, experience, and other resources. Competency models can provide useful guidance, for example by offering categories for deriving teaching and learning objectives or by helping identify where elements of ESD are already being implemented, whether intentionally or unintentionally. The talk will present an exemplary assessment of existing ESD elements in part of a degree programme as a motivating starting point for further, targeted ESD implementation.
All other dates will be announced on the linked website during the semester. Here you can find the topics that have already been confirmed.
Participation can be credited towards the AKTIVe Lehre certificate programme offered by Hochschuldidaktik Sachsen.
We look forward to engaging discussions and exciting exchanges with you.
