Recognition in Fichte's and Honneth's philosophy: Lecture and discussion at the University of Crete

On November 20, Dr. Masmanidis gave an online lecture on the topic "Fichte: Dimensions and Application of the Concept of Recognition" at the invitation of Dr. Stelios Gadris (University of Crete). The focus was on Fichte's understanding of recognition as an intersubjective request to the subject to realize its freedom, which Fichte understands as a basic prerequisite of self-consciousness. In a subsequent discussion on 4 December, Dr. Masmanidis explored the topic in greater depth together with students from the University of Crete, focusing on the three forms of recognition - love, respect and social esteem - and their pedagogical implications.
