Online guest lectures at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki: In dialog about education and paideia

At the invitation of Prof. Georgios Ypsilandis from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Dr. Konstantinos Masmanidis gave two online guest lectures on 26 and 27 March. Under the title "Philosophical Approach to the Concept of Education", he engaged in a lively exchange with the students in Greece.

The lectures took an analytical look at the (German) concept of education and worked out its relationship to, but also its differences from, classical Greek paideia. Dr. Masmanidis outlined education as a process of self-development aimed at freedom and autonomy. The concept of recognition as a prerequisite for educational processes was of particular interest to the participants and led to lively discussions."
