StarK - Students work with children
Brief description:
The project combines theory and practice by giving Teacher Training - Elementary Schools students an insight into working with children at elementary school in precarious districts of Dresden during their studies at TU Dresden. Special groups of children are supported according to their needs in the form of educational partnerships. The focus is on promoting participation in education, including language skills (cultural life situation), social skills (social life situation) and health-related self-care (health life situation). In addition, relevant self-competencies of the children should be promoted as a cross-sectional task. The goals are to be achieved by identifying and implementing child-related and needs-specific content to support the respective group of children in the educational sponsorship.
The educational sponsorship with its individually tailored content is located in the area of all-day activities offered by the schools participating in the educational sponsorship programme. The program is therefore located at the interface between formal and informal education.
The student tandems take on the educational sponsorships for up to five primary school children with special support needs for at least two semesters in a stable group constellation. The students are accompanied by the seminars (within the EW-GSD-P2 and P3 modules) at TU Dresden in terms of content and reflection. There, support needs are diagnosed, the support offer is prepared and the educational mentorship is accompanied and reflected upon. The mentorship can also be carried out for longer than one year if required.
