The Chair of Education with the focus Primary Education encompasses theory and research related to educational science and to primary education.
In teacher training, the specifics of the primary school are of particular importance. They result both from the educational mandate for fundamental education and from the fact that the primary school is the first school of the educational system for all children.
The focal areas of our teaching are the shaping of transitions and of the start of school, pedagogical diagnostics, heterogeneity in primary schools, and reflections on teachers' professionalisation. In this respect, we pay particular attention to explorative learning. The learning and research laboratory offers a learning environment designed to support the combination of theory, empiricism, and practical teaching reflection.
The areas of teaching of the Chair of Education / Primary Education are: one module for general didactics, three modules for primary education, teaching internships, the elective subject Art, and the elective subject Manual Training. The elective subject music is under the responsibility of the Hochschule für Musik.
