The legal basis
Teacher Training - Elementary Schools in Saxony concludes with the First State Examination. This is regulated in terms of content and form by the Teacher Examination Regulations I (LAPO I). As the state examination approaches, you should definitely take a look at this legal basis.
The State Office for Schools and Education (LaSuB) is responsible for the First State Examination. You can find information on the First State Examination on the LaSuB website.
Oral examination in subject teaching
Register for the examination at the LaSuB, Dresden location, and indicate your "preferred examiner" (there is no guarantee ). Prior registration with the examiner is not required. You will then receive the assignment of your examiner from the LaSuB.

Scientific work in subject teaching
We support committed and motivated students in the preparation of their academic thesis (so-called state examination thesis or examination paper). We will be happy to confirm that we will supervise your thesis after you have sent us your 2 to 3-page short synopsis, in which you explain which topic you would like to deal with in your thesis and how you intend to proceed in terms of content and method(guidelines for writing a short synopsis), as a PDF document to the e-mail address . Please include the name of your preferred supervisor and the name of your preferred second supervisor. You will receive a reply from us after reviewing the short synopsis.
Deadlines for submitting the short synopsis:

Aspiring degree in the winter semester: submission of the short synopsis by November 30 of the previous year (registration of the thesis then takes place in April)

Summer semester: submission of the short synopsis by May 31 of the previous year (registration of the thesis then takes place in October)

Empirische Arbeiten
Mit empirischen Arbeiten können Sie Forschungsfragen mithilfe qualitativer oder quantitativer Forschungsmethoden untersuchen. Mögliche Themen sind die Analyse kindlicher Lernprozesse oder die Untersuchung von Professionalisierungsprozessen von Lehrkräften.
Konzeptionelle Arbeiten
Konzeptionelle Arbeiten können sich mit der Entwicklung, Durchführung und Evaluation neuer Unterrichtsideen, der Gestaltung innovativer Lernmaterialien oder der Planung außerschulischer Bildungsprogramme beschäftigen. Eine Kombination aus empirischen und konzeptionellen Elementen ist ebenfalls möglich.

Pro Person darf nur ein Thema eingereicht werden. Mehrfache Einreichungen sind nicht vorgesehen. Um eine optimale Betreuung zu gewährleisten, richten Sie Ihre Arbeit bitte thematisch auf unsere Forschungsschwerpunkte aus. Bitte informieren Sie sich auf den persönlichen Webseiten der Mitarbeitenden über die jeweiligen Forschungsthemen und Schwerpunkte.

The total length of the academic paper is 60 pages (+/- 10 %).

- Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt; Arial, 11 pt or comparable
- Line spacing: 1.5-fold
- Margins: 3 cm right and left, 2.5 cm top and bottom
